Because my condo has only 100 amp service I needed a new electrical sub-panel to support a Level 2 home charger.
I also needed the charger to be mounted on a side wall in my garage so it could reach the charging port at the side rear panel of my EV.
My main electrical box is on a wall in my basement with very little room for a sub panel. The electrician found an elegant solution. He ran wiring through that wall to the interior garage wall where he installed the new sub panel. Then he ran 25 feet of wiring from there to the side wall to where he installed the Level 2 charger.
With parts and labor the total bill came to $1,700. However, thanks to the Massachusetts Electric Vehicle Charging Program (MOR-EV) partnership with Eversource, my installation cost was only $300!
Note: I supplied the charger (ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2, $549 + $34 tax)
